Things to consider about your
web site
Basic Design and Layout
-
main color(s)
-
background (color, texture).
-
color of buttons (complimentary color), and shape
-
logo (if you have one)
Every page should contain:
-
same layout through out - same colors, logo, buttons,
and background for consistency in web site
-
contact information close to bottom of every page
is recommended - this makes it easier for people to contact you no matter
where on the site they are.
-
Your contact information should include:
-
full address
-
phone number(s)
-
fax number (if applicable)
-
email address (if applicable)
-
navigation bar (all links on your site) at bottom
of every page
Things to keep in mind:
-
keep information and pictures as up-to-date as possible
(lose credibility if information is out-dated)
-
text is most readable black on a white background
(this can be set up even on a colored background).
-
the more pictures on a page, the longer the page
will take to download. This could turn potential clients away from
your site
-
a really good quality picture makes a sale easier.
It is better to have no picture than a poor quality picture.
Sample Pages that you may consider for your web site
Home page
Your home page is the first page, therefore the
first impression, any potential client will see. This page should
be a reflection of you and your business product.
-
your logo, if you have one, should be part of your
home page (and perhaps every page)
-
a featured picture is nice to have on your home page.
This could be of your stallion, your ranch, or your product.
-
A welcome statement including briefly what your site
offers
Stallion page
If you are standing a breeding stallion, the following
should be contained on the stallion page:
-
a good picture or two
-
basic information (age, color, registration, etc.)
-
pedigree
-
his accomplishments
-
his offsprings' accomplishments
-
breeding fee, guarantees, and other contractual information
Mare page
Promoting the strength of your brood mares is
important, especially if marketing their offspring. Your mare page
should contain the following:
-
a good picture of each mare
-
basic information (age, color, registration, etc.)
-
her pedigree
-
her accomplishments
-
her offsprings' accomplishments
Sale Horse(s) page
If you are offering any horses for sale, the page
should contain the following:
-
good picture or two of each sale horse
-
basic information (age, color, gender, registration,
etc.)
-
pedigree of each sale horse
-
a write-up about each sale horse, including accomplishments
